All that means is that some numbers were added to a virtual character that you can control. With that said, I've never enjoyed going back to the beginning of a game and 1-shotting enemies. Its quite obvious that a video game character in a RPG is going to gain additional numbers as you continue to play the game, no surprise there, no "proof" needed, you knew that before you even purchased the game. I guess we play games for different reasons, because that would never give me a sense of accomplishment as an individual, because, well, nothing was accomplished. So part of the enjoyment is seeing a virtual character gain virtual power through virtual "work"? Multiple roguelikes use an unlock system to encourage repeat play. And chests like in Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Dota 2 also use that mechanic. Because all MMOs, action RPGs, and CCG/TCGs use those mechanics, and those alone account for thousands of titles. Everybody has the right to their opinion, but the mechanic that you despise so much exists in so many game genres.

People will keep pulling that lever on the slot machines, just like they'll keep grinding that dungeon on WoW, in hopes that they get some epic loot that will let them grind even harder. Look at Diablo 3 and WoW, or slot machines at casinos. If your characters don't feel like they are getting any stronger, then this makes XP and leveling a pointless activity in the first place.īut, I guess some people enjoy repeating the same tasks over and over again, even if it isn't mentally stimulating. That's why most RPGs stopped making enemies that auto-scale to your level, because it totally sucks. Part of the fun of RPGs is when you have very hard enemies in the beginning, and then later on you can literally one-shot them. It's real proof that your characters got better and your hard work paid off. It allows you to choose another path without worrying about having to grind again for money or XP.Īlso, it's kind of nice to have a level that was a real pain to beat the first time around, and then take your high level character and completely destroy it. Multiplayer games for tactics and strategy against actually intelligent adversaries rather than artificially "intelligent" NPCs.
TALE OF 2 WASTELANDS INCREASED CAPS MOVIE
Its like watching the same movie a second time right after I've just watched it, its just not as good the second time around since I know what is going to happen. Single player games for story and adventure, so repeating the story defeats that purpose. I don't understand why people play NG+ in single player games at all. Not many people will do more than a single run through (and quite a few won't even finish that playthrough), and a lot of those who do multiple playthroughs want to make a new squad and restart the game with the new load out. It is a huge amount of work to redo all combat encounters for a NG+ to make it reactive to the fact that it is a NG+, I'd like it if that happened, but I'm not holding my breathe.
TALE OF 2 WASTELANDS INCREASED CAPS PLUS
Imagine how easy that place would be with Lv 10 in weapon skills, plus all chests would be openable with ease, there wouldn't really be skill-checks as you could pass all of 'em. Originally posted by ////:with increased difficulty level i wouldn't call it absurdly easy.
